Radio Hosts Helping Radio Hosts Succeed in Radio Blogging

Tuesday Miles

So how did I go from 5,000 listeners to over 70,000 each week

When I asked 3 yrs ago to do an internet radio show I said no thanks, I was not ready plus I still had lots to learn about the sunjects I wanted to talk about on the show. I need more experience, and so I set out to gain that knowledge & experience. I did not want to host the show alone so I went searching for the right person who had an open mind yet had a complete different perspective than I did . When I am on air, I keep simple I address and give shout outs to the cities or countries who turn in each week. I include our listeners in my conversation as if they are right in front of me, I tell people when they are crappy and give them a hug when there not. We have guests on the show each week, we send out press release all the time, announcing who the guest is where to tune in at. We do a web page that takes a whole five minutes on each guest weekly, if its an author they send me there new book signed, or a dvd or what ever they are promoting. I will close here and write more later as its late and I need my beauty sleep.

Blessings all have a great weekend

These are wonderful ideas. I host a live weekly radio programme, Toward The Light, and actually give all guests who appear on my show their own individual profile pages on my website, TowardTheLight.org which include their bio, photo, hot-links back to their websites, details about their books, CDs, etc., plus the archived show. This has certainly generated lots of traffic to my site—and theirs—and it's a wonderful way to share information and resources.

I also have a blog that's dedicated to my show that features information on upcoming guests, post show comments and anything centred on my show, call-in numbers, show times (in different time zones), links for tuning in to the show live, a calendar, and so much more.

I find that the blog serves as a good press release, as people anywhere in the world can view it. Furthermore, I send out a weekly newsletter that's also got information about my upcoming guest, plus a little article that I write that my subscribers really appreciate. It's also got links to my websites and other useful resources that people can definitely use. Adding a personal titbit really makes it unique and special.

There are so many things that we can do to get the word out there.

Thank you for the opportunity to share these tremendous ideas!

Our show goes out on the internet but also over conventional radio. I do not have access, or at least I don't think I have access, to who is listening from where - but it would be a nifty thing to have.
