Can I charge for membership?

Yes, you can charge for membership.

Ning does not offer a standard feature that would allow for this, although with a little creativity you can make it happen. An option that is available to you is to set your privacy settings to "member moderation." This means that each member would have to be approved or disapproved by you in order to join the social network. Once someone has requested membership, you can handle a transaction on an external site, such as PayPal. You can email members who have applied to join and ask them to pay your subscription fee, and then only accept them to your social network once they have done so.

To turn on member moderation, go to your Manage tab and click on "Network Privacy." Check the box next to "Approve new members before they can join."
