Profile Information

About Me:
My first profile was built quickly to fill the space. I thought that a rewrite was in order and what follows reflects my feelings on what needs to happen as opposed to what has happened. Of course learning from the latter is required in order to create remedies making the former possible.

Tragically, our world is devolving. It is not merely a generational frame of reference thing, because on every point of the socioeconomic compass, every point of the geopolitical direction finder, every commercial indicator reveals without equivocation that life as we have known it is on thin ice.

Thus, my efforts reflect my concerns. Our problems exist for more reasons than can be cataloged in a brief presentation but they are all basic in nature yet complex to the point of being chaotic in their effect. Some of the solutions to these complex problems are conveniently direct…however, none of them are easy…and we have come to really like easy. We’re addicted to easy…and therein lies our most serious problem.

We first have to change our behaviors before we can expect meaningful reversal of fortune. There is an old adage; to repeat a behavior expecting different results is a form of insanity. In a way, modern civilization has become functionally insane.

An example…the administration of President Obama is marketing preposterously expensive solutions, thus, repeating the same behavior that created the initial problem. That is an insane condition. A year ago the national debt was under 10 TRILLION dollars…it will soon become 12 TRILLION. Any “Fix” of our problems that adds to the national debt is not a solution in the near or long term. We need to be able to face our fiscal reality and only then will viable solutions arise. Of course, we then also have to face the solution. Neither seems doable for us at the present.

We’re listening to the wrong people. We no longer have leaders running for political office, we have instead, media savvy personalities. We no longer have rational election campaigns, instead we have what are approaching billion dollar "I wannabe the president" travleing media circuses.

To further put things into perspective about how we are out of control…a two year long presidential campaign spent 1.2 BILLION dollars between the two prime contenders. That represents the purchase of countless radio and television air time, millions of mass mailings, hundreds of thousands of signs, paid staff, donations to lobbying groups, travel expenses, wardrobes, meals, and much more…yet all of that money paying for all of that massive action will not buy even one B-2 Spirit stealth bomber!

President Dwight David Eisenhower warned us of the relationship between industry and the desires of the military. We ignored his wisdom. We need desperately another Eisenhower, who had one simple standard that he used to make decisions…he always asked…”Will this be good for America”?

If you too believe that we need to change, then please join me in this discussion. Your agreement or dissention are both welcome and needed.

If you want to know about me personally, what follows is a snapshot.

Actually, I just celebrated my 30th wedding anniversary (who'd a thunk it?), have three adult children, four grandchildren, way to much stuff in the garage (and basement), lots of books (all hardbacks), am madder n' hell about modern politics and am thus a FIERCE Independent.

Along the way I flew airplanes for a living for three decades, authored two books, "Weird Missouri" and the soon to be released "The Last Real Deal"...and...as an addicted long distance runner ran around the planet two and one half times, and am now riding my bicycles at the same frenetic pace. Yeah, caaarazzy I know....I really like being physical. It's a testosterone thing I guess...nah, the hardcore lady physical types will string me up by my maleness if I make that kind of blanket statement...anyway, I like to make my body hurt for all the right reasons.

Let's see, what am I leaving out that might be meaingful...I was the youngest recruit to ever complete US Army Special Forces training. Okay, I'm done....except for one small issue....

Our world is spinning out of control. If we want to retain anything close to what we've had, we have to change the direction and pace of this destructive spiral towards nullness. WE is the operative word. As individuals we are screaming into the void, but as a focused force of many we can be the swords point of meaningful change...change for the better.

If we want the American experience to retain any real semblance of original intent, then we need to take the reins and make it happen. Wanna help?

One way to help is for all of us to contribute to the others efforts. I'm eager to coordinate, collaborate, and cooperate with all other radio personalities in any productive way. Drop me a note about how you and I can become more than we are at present.

But working independently, at this time I have two broadcast radio programs...modest affairs...but broadcasting in the countries 5th largest media market, Philadelphia. A third broadcast will begin in September airing on the same station, time and day of the week yet to be determined.

You're invited to listen on Sunday evenings 6:30-7:30PM and then again at 8:30-9:30PM Eastern. Live call in numbers 609-447-0236 or 609-447-0040. Please feel welcome to call in and share your thoughts.

Also, on BTR I share an hour of time on Monday mornings 11:00AM-12:00PM Eastern time, with my long time west coast based co-host, Caroline Neeley. Google her name and you'll like what you find.

Here we go again….

It’s that time again…time to “fix” our problems by creating more regulations, laws, restrictions, limits, bureaucracy, and governmental oversight…because we know how wonderful government is at improving our lot in life.

Over the weekend of August 8/9, there was a mid-air collision between a privately operated small aircraft and a commercially operated sight seeing helicopter. The incident took place within that airspace over the Hudson river adjacent New York City, kn… Continue

It’s 1776 All Over Again…!

On July 4, 1976, I joined well over one million other Americans on the grounds and at the base of the Washington Monument in Washington, DC. It was the time of this nations Bicentennial. A massive gathering of Americans sharing a kinship, a celebration, and an appreciation for the magic that is America.

The country was just two years beyond the specter of Viet Nam, had just weathered Watergate’s ugliness and the political demise of an American President, and was suff… Continue

After Action Report

The first installment of "Second Career/Life" programs found myself and fellow Radio Host personalities,
DeDe Murcer Moffett, Kjelene, and Leo Wisniewski sharing an hour of open and revelatory conversation. Because of the openess and honesty the conversation was believable on all levels, and the broadcast accomplished precisely what I was hoping for. Resultantly, the take aways for listeners were meaningful.

For those readers who did not get an opportunity to listen into the live broadcast, the… Continue
