Hi! I'm Trip Chick #2 (Ann--the one in the photo with the light hair). My cohort Wendy is married to an EMT/firefighter. I myself am hoping to marry into money before I hit 65. :-) Great way to fund my wanderlust. Been to 60+ countries, and the way I look at it, there are far too many wonderful places on this planet we share but way too little time. Wendy and I are finalizing our somewhat unconventional travel book, and sincerely hope when it is published, we will have more credibility in the media.
I almost forgot the radio show! I host "Travel Talk: Escapes" every Monday from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. Eastern on 1620 AM in the Atlanta area. Have been blessed to interview some uniquely entertaining radio talk show guests, from Cat Grabowski (aka "Biker Nun from Hell," yodeling Amade Perrig (Matterhorn Switzerland Tourist Office), to the world's most traveled person (Charles Veley), as well as high-profile travel experts such as Peter Greenberg (travel editor of "Today" show), author-publisher Pauline Frommer, Meryl Getline (USA Today.com "Ask the Pilot" former columnist), and Patricia Schultz (NY Times best-selling author of "1,000 Places to See Before You Die.") It is my dream to be nationally-syndicated one day.
Years ago before Clark Howard (the nationally-known consumer and travel guru) became syndicated, Wendy and I used to sub for him on Atlanta's AM 750 WSB's "The Friday Flyer." Later, we co-hosted "The Trip Chicks Travel Show" on a Washington D.C. FOX radio station. The commute got to be a tad much for us as Atlanta-based full-time travel consultants, though I have to say it was an enlightening experience.
When not busy booking individual vacations, designing group trips at our travel agency, or leading customized tours to Europe, I am a real sports, internet, music, foreign language, fitness, health, travel humor writing, baking, dog, and reading buff. Savoring life's simple things is my mantra, especially the older I get.
In addition, I pride myself on my colorful travel (mis)adventures (ask me about the fried Swiss underwear) and my last (or very close to dead last) place international marathon finishes. For me, travel serendipity is the world's best vacation and education. Our workaholic nation, with the highest rate of unused vacation time in the industrialized world, truly needs to stop, slow down, and smell the roses. Happy travels!
Thanks for the note and I would be delighted to be a guest!!! As you can observe, I work nights and sleep well into the day, but I still manage to be up early and Bright Eyed And Bushy Tailed for my program or as a guest on someone else's program!
Strange how that works!!!???
Ann, let's see how we can makr thid work for both of us!
Once again, thanks for thinking about me and for understanding how we might work together.
Thanks for the welcome wagon. I see you have already been in touch with the co-host I enjoyed for about 4 years many moons ago: the ilustrious Mr Roy Lowey.
He is a lot of fun and very talented when it comes to his web site and blog. I am definitely not that ay inclined as will be evident from my out of date web site.
I am a radio host junkie and way more intrested in talking tavel "live" than being so internet savvy.
That being said, after chatting with Roy a week or so ago, he got me excited about updating my site and starting a blog, that I am actually going to make the time to at least get started and bring myself up to speed! Will probably need some to get through the first stages, but that is NOT my scene, so I will settle for a rum and coke (The only drink suitable for mankind according to Jimmy Buffett!!)
Please keep in touch, as I am sure we could have some fun as mutual program guests.
I'd like to approach a local AM station about doing a broadcast radio show. Any tips on how to transition from podcast to airwaves? This would make a good thread in the forums, too.
Love it......send me some stuff and maybe we can do a multi media bit with live interview of your trips....includings slide show and video..Do you have another hat.....

Need to update our low-tech website. Got lots of video and pix. Would you like to be a guest on the show in the near future?
Ciao,
